Thank You Parents
By Joe Ulm
Thank you to every PSU parent for:
- Clean uniforms
- 42,811 rides to and from practice
- 1,689 rides to and from games
- 6 trips back to PSC or Armory to search for a forgotten ball, shin guard, jacket, hat, or water bottle
- Buying a new ball, set of shin guards, jacket, hat, or water bottle when the item couldn’t be found (only to find it hidden in a crevasse of a backpack a week later)
- Staying to watch the entire game even though its 40 degrees and raining
- Car ride conversations that bring smiles, take the sting out of a tough loss, and build confidence
- 106 rides to and from Player Excellence
- Knowing when ice cream is the only answer
- Back yard practice sessions
- Being the best cheering section ever
- Patience
- Finding the left cleat under the bed 23 minutes before game time (after asking your son/daughter to check there 3 other times!)
- Season-ending gatherings
- Letting your son/daughter learn the difficult lesson when you’d rather just fix it for them
- Letting them use the car to drive themselves to practice (but requiring they pick up their younger brother/sister on the way home)
- Leaving work early to make that Wednesday game that starts at 5PM (What? There’s a game at 5 tonight? Who scheduled that??)
- Hugs
Thank you for all you do, parents. There isn’t a single game, activity, practice, life-lesson, experience, smile, or memory that happens here at PSU without you.
United indeed.
