Academy Program
Build a Rock-solid Foundation
Coaching, Training, & Environment

Players in our Academy program experience a balance of structured training and competitive game-play, led by PSU’s licensed and experienced coaches. In this program, players develop strong individual skills and learn team concepts, preparing them for Select Soccer and beyond, including:
- Key concepts of the associative game (recognizing their roles based on different elements of the game such as the position of ball, teammates, opponents, goal, time, and space
- Game tactics that help them gain advantage over their opponents
- Fundamentals of all team sports (communication, sportsmanship, leadership, effort, etc.)
Additionally, the concepts of Passion, Skill, and Character are taught throughout PSU’s Academy Program, and it is through these concepts that we help players become great teammates, skilled players, and resilient people in their efforts both on and off the field.
As such, players in PSU’s Academy program are held to high standards, but also reap great reward for their effort. Players in our Academy program are expected to: 1.) Exhibit a desire to improve their soccer skills, abilities, and overall knowledge of the game, 2.) Engage actively, positively, and respectfully with their coaches, teammates, referees, opponents, and parents, and 3.) Put in significant effort during practices and games.
PSU’s Academy program isn’t for everyone, but it is an incredibly fun and rewarding experience that will set players up great for wherever their soccer journey may take them.

*The number and/or duration of practices, games, camps, tournaments, and other PSU events are not guaranteed. Weather, field conditions, and unforeseen circumstances will require the cancellation of these events from time to time. When this happens, PSU will do all we can to reschedule the cancelled event, but it may not be feasible to do so for every event.
**Actual season length depends on game schedule
***PSU changes jersey designs every two years. Players who have a current jersey design from the previous season may use the same jersey, effectively eliminating the uniform fee. Individual uniform components may also be purchased during non-design change seasons. The full Uniform Policy can be found on the Policies page of PSU’s website.
****Tournaments are coordinated by PSU. However, from time to time, weather, field conditions, and unforeseen circumstances can cause tournaments to be cancelled. When this happens, PSU will make every attempt to reschedule a different tournament later that same season or, in the case of a fall tournament that can’t be rescheduled, reschedule a spring tournament in its place. In the event PSU cannot reschedule a tournament by the conclusion of the spring season, parents will be provided a prorated refund of the tournament fees charged. No refunds are provided for “incomplete” tournaments or tournaments cancelled after any games have been played
