Return to Play Protocol: Phase I

As the state begins to open back up, the Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association (WYSA) announced their adoption of US Soccer’s PLAY ON return to play protocol guiding the phased re-entry of statewide soccer activities. We’re excited about what WYSA is allowing, and we’re certainly preparing to get back on the pitch with our athletes. As the health and safety of our players, coaches, and member families remains priority, we will not be entertaining the option of PSU team trainings at this time. We are, however, excited and prepared to offer individual and small group training for players who are interested in growing their individual skills to help prepare for their fall season and beyond. More information to come on this soon. Spots will be limited.

As we continue our fall planning, we have created a club specific PLAY ON document outlining expectations of all those involved in PSU activities. These guidelines are intended to provide athletes, parents, and coaches with the information needed in returning to soccer activity in the context of COVID-19.

Tryouts Scheduled July 13-15, 2020

Tryouts are scheduled July 13-15, and will be held at Pewaukee Sports Complex (N45W23440 Lindsay Rd, Pewaukee). We’re excited to extend tryouts to players at no cost this year.

Players are strongly encouraged to attend all three nights of tryouts so their soccer skill can be properly evaluated. Players should bring soccer shoes, shin guards, water, and an age-appropriate ball. Check-in, at the concession stand, begins 30 minutes prior to scheduled start time.

As always, we ask that parents refrain from entering the fields to provide the best possible environment for players.

If you have questions, please reach out to Pewaukee Sussex United’s Director of Coaching, Lati Ziba: lziba@pewaukeesussexunited.com

We look forward to seeing everyone!

Spring Season Cancelled

PSU Families,

WYSA has announced the formal cancellation of the 2020 spring season due to the risks associated with COVID-19. Although we are disappointed in this development, WYSA has made it clear that the decision was driven on specific, medical advice, along with their commitment to player safety. You can find WYSA’s full statement here: https://www.wiyouthsoccer.com/assets/75/6/wysa_response_to_covid-19_-_04.30.20_update1.pdf

We understand this decision affects families in a number of ways and we are finalizing our approach to both refunds and how we can help every player continue their enjoyment of the sport. We will provide specifics on both to everyone by next Wednesday, May 6th.

In the meantime, we’d like to thank all our families and coaches for the wonderful creativity and participation in our Spring Contest. Viewership of the posted training videos has been impressive and early participation has been great (remember, prizes are available!).

Stay safe, stay healthy, everyone.

Spring Season Is Suspended Until May 1st

Dear PSU families,

We received information from the Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association (WYSA) today that, in response to the COVID-19 situation, all sanctioned events are suspended until May 1st, 2020.

This means all Recreational, Academy, and Select games, practices, and tournaments are cancelled until May 1st. We are working closely with the WYSA to reschedule all our games and will provide everyone with an updated schedule as soon as we have it. Further, we will provide regular updates to everyone via e-mail as the situation evolves.

As always, the health and safety of our player and families remains our highest priority, and we encourage everyone to follow all state, local, and CDC recommendations.

Stay safe, stay healthy, everyone.

Additionally, the Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association will be providing their response to the COVID-19 on Monday, March 16th. We will update all our members when we receive the WYSA’s response, and we will continue to update our members regularly as this situation unfolds.
